I just purchased and read your book. I have thrown out all the gluten, dairy, sugar and vegetable oil in my house. I was already unable to drink any alcohol.
I have had regular periods since my cycle began, but they have always been painful and they have always been accompanied with a migraine. The migraines are intense and can last up to a week. I’ve been on every course of pill therapy imaginable, including Botox. Nothing works. Your theory of inflammatory foods has made more sense than anything anyone else has come up with so far.
Now I am perimenopausal. The migraines are worse and are hard to predict because my periods are unpredictable.
I pour drugs into my system when I have one.sumatriptin, naproxen, tornadol, hydrocodone, Pepcid and then take weeks to recover. I just removed the gluten and sugar from my diet and I’ve been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I started taking Magnesium as you suggested, but I’m not sure what else I should be doing. Please, any suggestions for diet and supplement would be welcomed. The book was terrific and eye opening.
If the change in diet works, it will be a life changer for me. Thank you again, especially for having simply acknowledged the reality of APD, which many medical professionals do not.
This is perhaps a long-shot question, but do you ever make it out to the US for treatment sessions overseas? I would see you in a heartbeat in Australia if I could, but it’s not in the cards for me right now. If you have any colleagues or referrals in the States, I’d be happy to receive those suggestions as well. I have had five years of my life compromised by APD, and I am in all honesty desperately trying to find a safe, sustainable, preferably natural means of management so I can get back on the wagon and live my life the way I’d like to. I sincerely appreciate your time, patience, and helpfulness, Dr.
Many thanks for making yourself so accessible. Hi, I am not on facebook or twitter or youtube so posting a Q here. I have requested to go on wait list for consult with you when you next visit Sydney but before then can you let me know what the best day to get a blood test for checking hormones re period issues is? Is it day 21? I plan to get your book and Suzzanne Somers I’m Too Young For This is on my list also although I get the impression the latter is mostly about HRT for menopause.
